About the Everest Region
Everest needs no introduction. The trek from Lukla’s infamous mountain airport up the Khumbu Valley and towards the world’s tallest mountain is the stuff of legends - and what better way to get a taste of the Himalaya than to both visit Everest Basecamp AND climb a neighboring 6.000m peak!
About EBC & Island Peak
This expedition offers the best of both worlds: One the one hand, it is an introduction to the oft-visited Khumbu valley with its suspension bridges, wifi-equipped teahouses, storied monasteries and spectacular views. On the other hand, this trek goes a step beyond a standard Everest Base Camp visit: we’ll cap off the expedition by venturing beyond the comforts of teahouse life to ascend 20,305ft Island Peak (Imja Tse) which requires the use of crampons, ice axes and ropes.
The Everest Base Camp portion of the expedition is strenuous but provides ample time for gradual acclimatization; Island Peak is an extremely demanding climb yet suitable for first-time mountaineers; we will practice the required technical skills on the approach.
