Awesome. Adventurous. AWE-inspiring.
AWExpeditions
AWE organizes mountaineering and remote adventures for women, by women.
Our Mission Statement
AWE decreases barriers of entry to mountaineering for women from all walks of life. Here’s how we do that:
• We provide a platform for women to make forays into the world of mountaineering in an all-women or mostly-women environment [see our trips]
• We tell and amplify the stories of women in the high mountains and remote backcountry to provide powerful role models for women with an interest in pushing their boundaries in the outdoors [find us on Instagram]
• We offer all- or mostly-women skill-building trips and workshops as stepping stones into the big mountain realm [participate in one of our basecamp clinics]
• We provide funding for women to participate in extraordinary mountaineering expeditions, skill-building trips and stepping stone experiences [read more about the Summit Scholarship program]
***about the name… AWE is short for Awe-inspiring Women’s Expeditions and is pronounced /ô/, just like ‘awe’
Why Women’s Climbs?
“When we go out and try hard on big adventures, we walk away stronger and with a more refined sense of self than we had before. And it’s these kind of experiences that transcend boundaries; they carry over from the mountains to the cubicle and eventually to the boardroom.
I firmly believe that women who get to experience and embrace adventure sports are poised to develop a higher level of self-confidence, that they’re more likely to challenge the status quo and be strong leaders and female role models for their communities.”

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY ABOUT AWE
“I craved the camaraderie and intimacy of an all-women team, and it was equally important to have opportunities to practice skills, to become more competent and confident, and achieve a greater level of self-sufficiency.
AWE absolutely delivered that experience and exceeded all my expectations! From the first meeting in Argentina to team outings for gelato and wine tasting, to our final dinner off the mountain, our guides were warm and thoughtful, immediately establishing trust and a dynamic that felt like family. We learned together, laughed together, and pushed through discomfort together. I was inspired by the respect they commanded among peers. Safety was of even greater importance with the adverse weather conditions, and from our acclimatization and health checks to considering itinerary adjustments and summit scenarios, everything was expertly executed. Dietary restrictions were also given the utmost consideration, and our guides did some creative cooking to ensure that we ate well- no easy feat at those altitudes [on Aconcagua]!”

“I would recommend AWExpeditions to any woman who has an interest in the outdoors! I went on a mountaineering trip up Mt Baker with AWE and learned so much from their experienced guides. Not only that though – this company values connection and team building and that helped everyone in my group (all strangers at first) form a genuine and deep connection with one another, truly a team experience. This was an adventure I will never forget.”
